ASTRO “BATTLEGROUND” 2011’S TOP 14 CREWS TO BATTLE IN PRELIMINARY ROUNDS

“Battleground, the INTERNATIONAL Battle Zone”, is the hottest street dance competition organized by Astro, and subsequently after the successful audition on 27^th August the competition heats up with the 1^st to 4^th preliminaries on 24^th and 25^th of September 2011, from 1.00 pm to 7.00pm at e@curve(centre atrium).“Battleground” 2011 is sponsored by Canon as the main sponsor, Giordano as co-sponsor; Diva production as official make-up sponsor; Miko Hair Studio & Academy as official hairdo sponsor, MYFM as the official Radio Station and A|X Armani Exchange as hosts apparel sponsor.

The top 14 crews who made it to “Battleground” 2011 are, Chique De Luxe, LA Sista, 20 Cents, Oh My Goodness, Freshype, Floor Digital, FIX, Le’Z, Coming Soon, Katoon Network, Dem Lepak Boyz, The Puzzle, D8 Century and also 2nd Floor. The teams were handpicked by judges, Aga a.k.a. Swiftlocker, a dance guru from Taiwan; Loose Joint, pioneering generation of new school dancers who coined the dance style named Hip Hop from U.S.A; and an international judge, BooGTom from Korea, to showcase their dancing skills in upcoming preliminaries battle. Notable dance crews include, Katoon Network the 2009 Battleground Champion and the gorgeous all girl dance crew Oh My Goodness and Chique De Luxe. The top 14 crews will battle it out in a series of preliminaries and semifinals with only 4 finalists qualifying to battle in the Grand Finale on 10th of December 2011.

At the same time, Canon, the main sponsor, offers a total of RM 75,000 in cash. Besides, Canon will also organize “Canon In-Action Photography Contest” during Astro “Battleground” 2011 Preliminaries, Semifinals and Final. This is the battleground for budding photographers to capture the memorable scenes in “Battleground” 2011 during Battleground preliminaries (24^th & 25^th September) and semi finals (29^th , 30^th October and 1^st November) with a Canon camera and get a chance to get to win a Canon Selphy Printer CP800 for each session. Participants were required to pre-register themselves online and register themselves at the same event venue. Canon will select 3 winners from each session and the selected winners will led to the final round and win the grand prize, Canon EOS 600D with outstanding photograph on Astro “ Battleground” 2011 Grand Finale.
