2012 MOVIE PREVIEW AT GSC MIDVALLEY

I attended Mix FM's preview screening of the most anticipated disaster movie this Fall: 2012. Not a bad movie. I would rate it 4 out of 5....minus 1 for a tad draggy (2 hours 38 minutes).
Cinema goers have been inundated with multiple disaster movies that spelt "disaster" or are we too jaded with one too many of these movies?

I have always been a sucker for disaster movies but most of them lacks the punch. I am talking about if you want to destroy the world or create mayhem, do it to the maximum and do not hold back. And most of these movies falls incredibly short and is very lacklustre in this category. And if one has not noticed, most movies only concentrate on 1 particular country (e.g. USA).
However, 2012 , hits home with its grittiness and "if you want to destroy, destroy 'em all!" theory with a touch of humor thrown in here and there for good measure.
The whole world collapses and I love it! Not an inch of the Earth is spared! I am not being callous, hey, it is A Hollywood disaster movie...it should be top rated and be over the top. However, in the midst of all the chaos and catastrophe, there is always hope.
I shall not divulge more.
This movie has to be enjoyed in the theatre for maximum cinematic effect and experience (not even a 40 inch plasma TV can duplicate that).
Before the movie commenced, there was a question and answer session by 2 of Mix FM announcers (Sham and Roshen) whereby, 3 lucky winners will get to grab some "money cannot buy" movie merchandise.
I, being the ever "kiasu" in more ways than other, abled to win one of the goodies. The goodies
are a watch specially made for 2012 (like those limited edition Swatch watch), a felt-tip pen, a key chain...all packed in a transparent green drawstring "kind of a" time capsule bag.

Hi,
Do we really believe in some sort of "change" is going to take place in 2012 based on an ancient culture? In my opinion religion was formed to explain things that were unexplainable to ancient people. Why'd it rain? The rain god made it so. Why is the person acting crazy? He has a demon.

What is my ponit?

That if there is some "shift" in thinking it will go unnoticed by the masses. Most of us won't realize it's happening until we can look back and see the paradigm shift in retrospect. I believe nothing magical or alien will happen on that day. The same way nothing happened in the year 2000 when all computers were going to fail and the second coming of Christ was supposed to happen. Movie looks interesting though.
