CHANCE TO MEET JACKIE CHAN

International kungfu movie star and action hero, Jackie Chan was in town on 8th September 2007 to inagurate the official opening of the Sunway Pyramid's California Fitness - Jackie Chan Sport Club.

I had the opportunity to meet the superstar in the privacy of his VIP rest room after his press conference session in the club.

I was among the lucky few chosen to be part of the fan photography session with some of the equipment in the club. Security was so tight, not even a fly could escape through those doors where Jackie was resting in between promotional appearances (e.g. interviews with press, tv, etc).

Jackie is accomodating and soft-spoken in real life. He is very meticulous and has an eye for details. He even taught those who were allowed to mingle with him on a one-to-one session on the workings of some of the equipment in the gym.

He obliged in signing autographs and photo shoots. His management team were on the other hand, quite worried on his tight schedule and rushed the meet the fan session to enable Jackie to take some rest before his next itinerary.

One thing for sure, Jackie has aged alot. Time and hardwork has really taken its toll on his face. However, he still churns out good and entertaining movies.
Great to meet you Jackie after watching so many of your movies.

BIRTHDAY WITH THE STARS

Enough of Madge basking for now. Her "4 Minutes" single is still being shadowed by Mariah’s "Touch My Body". And she did not even go to number one on Billboard Top 100 Charts! Oh well, it fared better in other charts around the world (e.g. UK). She’s a Brit-ish now. Y’all should listen to some of her interviews. She injects some Brit-ish slang here and there and its absolutely hilarious! And then Madge would just continue conversing in Detroit slang. ROTFLOL!

New blog update. Well, not that new. Its just that I had to find time to write it.

19th March 2008 was a big day for me. It’s a big day for me every year. IT’S MY FRIGGIN’ BIRTHDAY! Some years, I would just sit home quietly moping the fact I am getting older by the years and not getting any wiser and whilst some years would be a blast. This year was certainly a blast! I got to celebrate it with a whole bunch of artistes including All-4-One! Some of you might say, All-4-One? What a passé group. The question is, how many of you get to celebrate your birthday with even the most passé artistes? Besides All-4-One, I got to sing with the lovely Camelia and grooved to Reshmonu. I even rubbed shoulders with Joey G (Channel V celeb VJ). Yes, self gratification here (insert jeer!).

I happened to enter an email contest in the SUN newspaper (at the 11th hour, I still remember it was 11:40pm on the night of closing date for entries) whereby the participants had to answer a couple of questions pertaining to ING and the weekend of F1 and create a slogan with their “I’m on track for success” tagline.

I did not expect to win as they only had 3 pair of grand prizes of VIP tickets for an ING sponsored VIP party with the chance to mingle with All-4-One. The party was just a sneak peek of the real street party on the weekend of the F1 Grand Prix race in Sepang.

I got a call from the event management company couple of days before the party and I was just elated! Wow! A close friend PT who entered the contest also won. Double WOW! All we need to do is to pick some one to go along to the party. It was like winning a Survivor challenge and you had to pick someone to go with you for treats. PT picked his boss, Dimmy whilst I chose a lady friend of the same age, Jennie to accompany me. Dimmy and Jennie were not into the “chase the stars for pictures and autographs”. They just wanted to chill with the crowd and have some drinks to wind down. And the very next day was a public holiday for the country (Prophet Mohd’s birthday).

I had no time to re-memorise the lyrics of those All-4-One songs but managed to dug out a CD single of “I Swear” and a their 1st album for autographing purposes.

The day came, I was still excited and delighted. Told almost everyone I know where I was going and it had to pour big time in KL. What? My hair (like I had a lot), and makeup will be ruined! (insert canned laughter).

Met up with my friends and had dinner at a middle eastern restaurant just round the strip of Pulse Ultra Club (Grand Millennium Hotel) where the event was held.

The restaurant’s called Tarbush. It was a different kind of a dining experience. Very middle eastern. It has lovely walls to ceiling glass fittings. Now, some comments on the food, well, let’s put it this way, it is either you love it or you hate it kind of thing. And I ain’t telling my rating. One’s got to try it to savor the sweet smelling cheese (hmmmmm), mutton and weird looking vegetables, and then only judge for themselves.

Right after dinner, close to 9pm, we headed to our place of destination. At the entrance of Grand Millennium Hotel two very leggy ladies were ushering in guests for the party. More leggy ladies dressed in ING corporate colour were seen at the entrance to Pulse Ultra Club. LOVELY…just LOVELY! Did I mention that it was my birthday too?

We entered the club, greeted like VIPs. Given a huge goodie bag that includes a leather wallet, an ING F1 miniature race car key chain, a 2GB miniature F1 race car flash drive, a cap and a screw. You’d be wondering what the screw is for. It was just a marketing gimmick whereby photographers unleashes their shutters on us while we pretended to insert the screw to a board that represented the Sepang circuit.

Then it was champagne time. I drank loads of champagne and had some hors d'oeuvres. We just hung around took more pictures. Drank more. Booked a good seat in front of the stage to watch the performance. Met up with Joey G of Channel V. He was the emcee for the show. He’s a cool fella.

Some bigshots showed up and sat a reserved table right in front of us. Among them were ING Insurance Bhd chairman Tengku Abdullah Sultan Abu Bakar and his wife Cik Puan Bendahara Datuk Habibah Datuk Yusoff (I think it is the same Hibabah Yusoff who used to be on TV3!) , ING Insurance Bhd president/CEO Dr Nirmala Menon and Dutch ambassador Lody Embrechts.

The performances began with Camelia. She sang mostly English songs with a pulsating and continuous twists to all, including her hit single, “Seiring Sejalan” (the Club Mix). It was excellent. She invited the audience to sing along with her. She descended from the stage and pushed the mike to a lot of people including yours truly who obliged (and even hogged it for a while) and got a good firm hug from her. LOVELY!!!

As yours truly was still high from the hug, there was an intermission whereby I had some Vodka Limon, before Grammy Award R&B group All-4-One ascended. Imagine the deafening cheers! They sang some of their lesser known hit songs (including a take on some Stevie Wonder classics and 2 new songs from their upcoming album) and left the ever, ever popular song you hear in all weddings “I Swear” till the end! It was excellent. They still have it. We all just sang along to it like one huge extended family!

We were a tad disappointed that we did not meet the main drivers of the ING F1 team (Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet Jr), only Brazillian Lucas Di Grassi, ING Renault F1 Team’s third driver was present.

After All-4-One’s performance. They stayed a while to aknowledge their fans and the bigshots. Some took the opportunity to get their CDs autographed.

PT and I managed to meet them personally at a dining hall behind the staging area where they were resting. They were warm and obliged to all our requests (autograph signing and picture taking sessions). In addition we even managed to mingle and chit-chatted with them about their upcoming projects. Awesome!

In the midst of all that, Reshmonu was performing on stage singing his hit songs including “Hey Waley” and “Superfine”.

We had this kind of ALL access tag that enabled us to go anywhere. That was amazing!

After Reshmonu ended his performance, he dancefloor was opened. As we carpooled, we left early and savoured the night that we had.

Oh! What a night…..A big thanks to ING!

4 Minutes To Fame Or Out Of Fame?

There is so much I can write on Madonna. It is either you love her or hate her for most people. I on the other hand chose to love her. Love in the sense that I enjoyed her music, her videos, her performances, her incessant uncompromising regime for fitness, her concerts (only via DVDs…would the government allow Madge to stage a concert here? Duh!) and sometimes her antics. I do not like her for her movies though (probably except for Evita), the rest either leans towards eroticism or somehow does (remember the fencing scene in Die Another Day? Even her lines were corny.)

I have loved Madge since her “Holiday” single in 1983. Everyone thought again, she was just flash in the pan. I bet her critics are either six feet under now or just out of their jobs. Like A Virgin, her sophomore album went all the way to top of the Billboard charts in the US and UK and also Germany. It was such a phenomenal success that many people started dressing like her (now how many of you ladies wore umpteenth chains, necklaces and bangles and had your hair done similar like hers?). I bet most the ladies are in their late 30’s or 40’s now and cringing over the whole Madonna look. Madonna is a trendsetter. People are just watching her and anticipating what will be her next re-invention or wardrobe change. Check out how many people, even celebrities and hair stylists are into that “Hung Up” look after the single, video and the concert dropped.

She was this young woman with chains and crucifixes around her neck prancing around to Like A Virgin, Dress You Up etc. Then she morphed into a Marilyn Monroe lookalike in True Blue. She did justice to the look though. It was one of her cleanest and most dazzling to date. She looks pure and naïve. Well, looks only. She sang about getting pregnant out of wedlock in Papa Don’t Preach, dances in a sort of a strip joint in Open Your Heart with a kid watching and then got all party-ish in True Blue, Where’s The Party etc. Did you know that the song La Isla Bonita was actually intended for Michael Jackson for his Bad album? THANK GOD! Wacko Jacko turned it down! Imagine Jacko singing that song. Major goose bumps!

True Blue surged to number one on nearly all charts around the world. Most of her songs from True Blue were hits! From then on, I knew she would be staying for a long long time. Now with Botox, bronchio saline treatment, yoga, pilates and the works, she won’t be dead until about 150.

Controversy and Madonna always go hand in hand. They are the best of friends. This is also another appealing thing on why I like Madge, she loves to push the envelope. Remember the famous coffee table book? I have a copy though, unfortunately not in the physical format but in a scanned format downloaded from the internet.

As with controversy, Madge returned with Like A Prayer in 1989. I like that album. I still remembered the hype that was surrounding the release. In Malaysia, they played the 7” remix of the title song which I only got hold of it recently. This version was not sold anywhere. Only for promotional purposes (e.g. DJs and radio stations). The bass is better, the drums were stronger (compared to the album version) and Prince played a mean guitar piece at the end of the song whereby it is not available on the album version. Back to the hype, Warner Music was releasing this album with sandalwood paper! And it was only for limited edition. I still recall on the day of the release, me and a friend went to Jaya supermarket (there was record shop there…cannot recall its name now) to get a copy before it was sold out! It was raining and we had to take the bus. I still have the cassette and I think the smell still lingers on the sleeve. More controversy struck when the title track was slated by Pepsi to be used for their commercial. Then her video was released (kissing a Black Saint and dancing around burning crucifixes etc) and I think it was banned on MTV because there were a lot of pressure from religious groups. In the end Pepsi decided to pull out the video but Madge got to keep her dough for the contract which was a cool USD5million contract!

After that she became sexier and more daring in terms of sexuality (e.g. Express Yourself and Cherish).

Erotica was released (sexually hands down) and Bedtime Stories followed suit (slutty looking cover and sleeve pictures). She showed more boobies than the Hooters girls combined. In between those years she was so sexually active she even came out with a documentary called “Truth or Dare” where hrrrmmppphhh…she did “something” to a mineral water bottle. However, she redeemed herself when Take A Bow from Bedtime Stories soared to number one on Billboard Top 100 charts for 7 weeks and number ones in many places across the world. The song was partly co-written with Babyface.

I wrote to her once and I got her autograph, though not personal, but hey, it’s Madonna!

Of course, she returned stronger with her Grammy winning album Ray of Light that experimented on electronica. It worked. Madonna’s back! She ruled the charts again! The Music album dropped and it was another hit! She just reinvented herself. She is very very good at it. Most (in fact all) of our local singers should learn a thing or two from this feisty, never say die lady. Of course I do not expect Siti Nurhaliza to come out with an album like Erotica. Take the good things like peserverence and dedication to the art.

The American Life album was a disaster in my opinion. Except for one or two songs, the rest are below Madge’s standard of deliverance. However, the uncensored American Life video was fun to watch (it has violent, angst, funny moments, etc).

Confessions On A Dancefloor was a good album that makes you want to get up and dance and shake your booty. I remember I was in Singapore during the hype (pre-launch of the album). And the radio stations were playing snippets of Hung Up. There were so much hype there prior to the launch. Record stores like HMV were ready for the launch and they had pictures and standees of her and new album up at that time. It was such a craze. I still remember the disco ball that was at Sembawang (the branch in Cathay Cineleisure in Orchard Road).

The album was a major hit around the world and the single Hung Up won a lot of major accolades and accomplishment.

Now she’s hitting the big 50 this year and am eagerly waiting for her Hard Candy album. I was a tad disappointed though with the album cover and also the 1st single (4 Minutes). It will never be as good as the Hung Up single. However, the video for 4 Minutes is really cool. Crystals trying to get her and Justin. Before time runs out, she has to save herself. You know, the video should be a part of any Biology lesson in school. It has cool slicing effects (from humans to bath tubs to sinks etc).

I have high expectation of her, hope she’ll deliver. Well, hope she takes much more than 4 minutes to do that.

HOW TO SAVE A CRASH HARD DISK?

Top of the morning to y'all!

Not exactly for me because my external hard disk (supposedly a Hitachi brand) 120Gb crashed AGAIN. Yes, I have no friggin' idea what's wrong with the sucker but when I connected the USB cable to the PC, the machine was able to detect the peripheral. However, the machine cannot read it's content (kept saying it's unreadable/the data is corrupt). It was as though the hardrive is brand new and not formatted yet. I have formatted the drive many a times due to these disasters. I am returning to the dealer Inficom Computers in Imbi Plaza during lunch. I went to made a complain last Friday but one chinese fler who looks like he knows everything sort of "conned" me into getting an internet security software that could be a problem due to my frequent downloads. I mean, alright, since the Norton Security software provided by the new laptop (oh, did I mention I bought a new laptop a week ago? My desktop is near it's demise stage) has only a 3 month trial subscription life. Imagine the "bitch fit" I shall be unleashing on them when I go that dealer again afterwards! I checked on the internet yesterday the serial number of my external hardisk, it is an AP machine!

What's more frustrating is not the fact the I have to reformat the drive but the data in it. All the data are MP3 files which I have downloaded and most of them are rare mp3s (e.g. radio edit, promotional single versions that only DJ receive, version of songs that radio station plays that are not available on singles or even the artiste's album, 12" extended versions, mash up songs, megamixes); basically stuff you cannot find anywhere unless you really look for hard in the internet. As the chinese saying goes "Got money oso kenot buy!" kind of stuff.
Saving grace is some of the more important MP3s are backed up. I burnt them out on CDs.

So I was staying up most of the weekend salvaging whatever I can by putting whatever I can back into my laptop hardrive. Let's see...I slept at 4am on Friday. Woke up at 7am to do a 8km run. Hit the sack abit earlier on Saturday night because I had to participate in the Olympic Relay Fun Run at 7.30am on Sunday (5km). And yesterday I slept around 3am! So, I'm in the office, groggy, sulky, plus the Monday blues.

Anyone reading this knows of a good and reliable dealer or even a brand or tips on how to get a sturdy and reliable external hard drive? (insert On Bended Knee song)

Did I mention I purchased a new laptop since last week? Oh yes, I did. See how blur I am today. It's an economical model of Acer Aspire 4920. Yes, men and his fetish for gadgets! It's has everything anyone could ask for at this point of technology. Intel Core Duo, 2GHz, 160 Gb of hardrive, integrated webcam etc. And it's also preloaded with Windows Vista. Downpoint is my printer driver is not Windows Vista compatible. So, have to search for one online. Oh Oh Oh....the package comes with package deal....either you pick a Canon Pixma IP printer (that cost RM165, I checked) or a flatbed Canon LiDE 25 Scanner (RM268)...I picked the scanner....ahhhh but then (wisdom words of Phua Chu Kang). Also they threw in a the 3 year extended warranty for free and an application for face recognization or something that I did not even bother to open the package. It's my laptop, why the heck do I need to have my retina or face scanned to access. It's not like Mission Impossible. What happens if I go for plastic surgery to correct my crooked nose or have have extreme makeover?

The scanner is excellent! Scanning at 1200 x 2400dpi and 48bit colour depth! Well, attest from all those pictures posted on this blog. Nice leh?

Of Radio Shows in The 90's

In the middle of the 1990’s (around 1995 to be exact), there was a chart show called “The World Chart Show” hosted by Adrienne “Ace” Walker and Joe Cipriano. The show was broadcast during the weekends on one of the celestial radio station. Not to say I was a mega fan of the show, the fact that I listened to it because American Top 40 was discontinued for some reason or other.

I remember listening to Casey Kasem and subsequently replaced by Shadoe Stevens with their Top 40 countdown. They were excellent.

“The World Chart Show” played some pretty interesting international music from different countries too to expose us to different cultures in music whereas American Top 40 was purely music that charted in the United States during that week. That was something different. However, I still prefer AT40 and felt that there was something lacking in “The World Chart Show” even though both shows were created by Tom Rounds.

I wrote letters (snail mail was the only method then, duh!) to both the American Top 40 (during Shadoe Stevens helm) and “The World Chart Show”.

On the American Top 40 show, I asked a simple question of “What is the longest title ever for a number one song?”. I did not expect my letter to be chosen and read on air. Imagine the proud moment when Shadoe mentioned my name and the country I lived in and read my letter. Whoa! That was awesome! My letter was being read and listened to the entire American community (who has access to radio of course) and the world over! I was elated! I taped that particular section of the show and played it over and over again! Oh, by the way the answer to my question was and still is “Hey, Won’t You Play Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song” a 1975 number one song by BJ Thomas. For my effort, the producers of American Top 40 sent me the entire show for that week in 4 CDs plus their script and Shadoe Steven’s personal autograph! Sweeeeeet! The show was during the holiday Christmas weekend and the number one song was “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston.

For “The World Chart Show”, I wrote in for feedback and attached a photo from one of my vacation. Amazingly enough, the hosts wrote back thanking me for the letter and photo along with their autographs. The show is now being hosted by Lara Scott.

Now that Ryan Seacrest is hosting the current AT40, maybe I should write in and get his autograph too…….

Come to think of it, I should have renamed my blog to Kevin’s Autograph Junkie.

What A Feelin'

Remember Irene Cara? Betcha most of us who grew up in the 80’s would. How can we forget hits like “Fame” and the title song to the ultimate 1983 musical dance defining movie Flashdance, “What A Feelin’”? I did not know that the song was actually co-written with Giorgio Moroder (the partner in crime of Philip Oakey of “Together In Electric Dreams” fame) until I read the sleeve notes recently. “What A Feelin’” soared up the US and UK charts and topped the charts internationally. Even my dad (whose into Elvis, Pat Boone, The Beatles and Rick Nelson) loved that song. He would just whistle or hum to the tune when it is being played. See how infectious that song was.

Little known fact was that Ms Cara was one of the five finalists for the Little Miss America Pagent (unknown year).

Also the movie Flashdance was the first collaboration between Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson (people who gave us Beverly Hills Cop, Days of Thunder, The Rock and Top Gun). However, Don Simpson died in 1996 that left Jerry to produce more hits shows (from the CSI franchise to a slew of hit movies like Bad Boys 2, Pirates of The Caribbean trilogy, National Treasure etc.)

Ms Cara came to Malaysia in 1987 for a promotional tour of her 4th album (I think) called Charasmatic and I got the opportunity to meet her. No photos were taken though but I got her autograph on a cassette. Even at that point of time, when the recording company notified me that I was one of the winners to get to meet and greet the singer, I had to save fervently for a purchase of the cassette. Unlike these days, students are able to afford to purchase CDs and DVDs at the snap of their fingers. Unfortunately, my parents do not own a money tree.

Umbrella, Ella Ella Ella

I have never thought Rihanna would make such an impact in the music scene. From her debut album “Music of The Sun” (aptly titled as she is from Barbados) her first single was “Pon De Replay”, I thought she would just be another one hit wonder or flash in the pan. Other releases from that album were just mediocre.

Then she released her sophomore album, “A Girl Like Me” with “SOS” being the lead single. I was hooked. Great dance floor tune. And then the second single “Unfaithful” was released. I was more than hooked. Celestial radio stations (Astro and Fly Fm) were playing a version of that song that is not available on the single format and I am still trying to get hold of. Anyone help?

After that, she released disappointing singles like “We Ride” and “Break It Off (with Sean Paul). Ok, I thought to myself, let’s not waste anymore time on Ms Robyn Rihanna Fenty (that’s her real name).

I was about to give up hope on Rihanna when “Good Girl Gone Bad” was released and “Umbrella” was dropped as the principal single. When I first listened to that song, I was not exactly impressed because it seemed like she had run out of lyrics with the “ella, ella, ella” repetition. However, after putting on a good pair of headphones and watching THAT video, yes, THAT video (if you have seen the normal edited version, you are obviously missing something interesting), I was more than hooked on the lady. My jaws just dropped and I just could not get that song out of my head. She is sexier, edgier and yummier (if you get my drift). At the age of 20, the girl from Barbados has finally arrived and stamped a hard and concrete impression in the current music industry for good.

Coupled with good remixes of the lead single from Seamus Haji, Paul Emanuel and Lindbergh Palace, the song became an international hit. Topping the charts in the US Billboard charts as well as the UK charts, it was unprecedented.

“Umbrella” really catapulted her to super stardom.

She re-invented herself with that “senget” haircut that everyone is emulating nowadays (even Victoria Beckham and Kathy Holmes copied the style).

Can’t wait for her next project.

I was fortunate enough to get an autograph copy of her “Good Girl Gone Bad” album from her recording company.

Michelle Yeoh and I

I met Dato Michelle Yeoh (well, she was not conferred a Datukship then) when she was in Malaysia promoting her hit film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I got invited to the the Gold Class of GSC Cinema in MidValley for the VIP Party before the show. The director Ang Lee was there too but he was really busy with some big wigs so, we did not manage to take a picture with him. Anyhow, the star of the movie was Michelle, right?

She is soft spoken and fluent in both English and Cantonese. Hey, she's from Ipoh. We chatted for a while on projects she was working on before the premier of the movie.

We even sat in the same Gold Class cinema. Never had I sat in such comfortable cinema seats before. It was my first experience in the Gold Class cinema. Those seats can make you fall asleep if the movie was boring! It's like 1st class airplane seats but softer.

Now and Then

3rd posting. I am still having Celine jet lag. Cannot get enough of her. Wished the concert was longer (not too long until it becomes draggy).

Oh well, back to reality. As my profile states, I am actually a runner. Here’s a picture of me completing my Singapore half marathon in 2006. Yes, I am a skinny freaky (a certain Mr Lim would call me that.). Seriously, am I that skinny? I just wonder…….

Wait till you see pictures of me before I started running. I was rather plump-ish and had a head full of hair. Somehow it was a bit of a hindrance during training and racing itself. So one fine day, I decided to crew cut it all off to the shock and amazement of certain quarters.

I started running since the year 2000. I think I shall reserve the history and my running escapades in another “upcoming” blog of mine.

This blog is purely for entertainment. Movies I have watched, music I listen to and probably traveling stories (that I think would be minimal as I do not travel much).

I shall be putting up pictures of me with the celebrities I have the chance to meet and also autographs I have managed to obtained.

For initial pleasure and abit of a shocking moment of friends who have not seen me with hair, here’s a picture of me meeting up with Debbie Gibson way long ago together with her autograph of her debut album “Out of The Blue”.

Debbie Gibson (now she uses Deborah instead....a sign of maturity) was the original Britney Spears. Except for the fact she wrote her own songs, played most of the instruments and sang decently. Now, that is talent. She is unlike alot of artistes today being packaged as what the recording companies want them to be. She was very down to earth during the meeting and very obliging to all photo calls and autographs. At one point a fan gave her a selendang (Malaysian scarf) and she wore it for photo shoots. Later I'll scan that photo and upload it here for all viewing pleasure.

Addition to the fact, she did not go mental and shave her head; had a wedding in Las Vegas that lasted 24 hours or had the entire LA county police and paramedics at her porch during one of her episodes. No offence Britney (I still respect you as an artiste....I have most of your singles and albums too) but Debbie had a really wholesome image. Ironically, she had competitor too by the name of Tiffany. I was not a big a fan of Tiff but some of her songs are good (e.g. Could've Been).

CELINE DION TAKING CHANCES TOUR IN MALAYSIA

I guess I shall blog about my most recent happening event first.

That would be the Celine Dion concert that took place last nite (14 April 2008) in Stadium Merdeka. After being postponed for her throat infection which later affected her sinuses then attacked her lungs (sounds like a CSI episode), she finally made it to our shores!

And I tell you, what a concert it was! Is it me or just the sight of an icon that made me noticed that she sounded better after her sickness! In the middle of the show, she apologised to all the fans for postponing the shows and she spoke a couple of Bahasa Malaysia words.

Me went with a group of friends, certainly Dion fans. We sang to nearly every song except for that French number which I shall not even try to spell out. Started with I Drove All Night and ended the night so aptly with her mega selling song from Titanic, My Heart Will Go On. She had only two changes of clothes. I supposed the other dresses were kinda of revealing for the presence of the King and Queen of Malaysia. Remember Mariah Carey (the lady who repels flat shoes), she had one blouse and jeans for the entire show. Thank god for the voice, if not, I would have killed myself long time ago for getting the 2nd most expensive ticket for the show.

Back to Celine (it's all about Celine now). She have such power lungs sometimes I reckon it's mechanical. Just need some good lubricant and service to keep it going. She has been here for decades and she still sound the same. It's a wonder and a miracle. She does not need fancy footworks, ridiculous pyrotechnics that sometimes scares the bejesus out of the dancers because they go off suddenly and other "magical" stage design. It was kept to the minimal. It is the command of her voice alone that echos through the entire stadium and beyond!

From the moment "GO", she sang her heart out (by the way, not to offend any Celine Dion fans here, she looks ugly when she sings....which I personally opined that she sings with all her heart.) Only her album covers/videos and promotional pictures are flawless. Oh, not forgetting botox and the rest of things she puts on her face.

My friends and I managed to catch her doing sound checks when we were queueing at the entrance gates. She managed some incomprehensible French words to her crew. That's the perfectionist we all know.

I was a tad disappointed she did not sing "If You Asked Me To" and "Falling Into You" (one of my favourite songs from her). However she sang "To Love You More" but she edited the extra longish ending (which is I enjoyed the most and very goose-bumpy).

The most irritating and annoying part of the concert was (and it is definitely not Celine's fault) the fashionably late arrivals of "certain" VIPS which caused the concert to be delayed about 50 odd minutes. They have all the escort riders and they still arrive late. In the words of Mr Patrick Teoh (NIAMAH!).

The rain that poured earlier made the experience even more cooling and enjoyable. In short this is the best concert so far this year or even as yet. Man! She could just sing and sing and sing and she still could hold her breath and not miss a pitch! Now, that's a SUPERSTAR! Our local acts should really learn a thing or two from here.

I would give the concert a 9 out of 10.

First Posting

A big hellooooooooo to all friends and readers!!!!

I guess I am the new kid on the block of blogging. I am always left behind with all these new hype of blogging and stuff. Oh well, sheer laziness. The blame factor.

Seriously, nearly all my friends have their own blogs whether on political issues, entertainment basis or on sports. And one good buddy in particular (you know who you are) has been pestering me to come up with a blog to put all my stuff. So I guess this is the right moment.

Now the title of my blog is Kevin Meet The Stars. Why? What stars? Orion? Saggitarius? Well, no. I've been toying with the idea of scanning and putting all the autographs and pictures of my fetish of meeting celebrities. The word here is "meet" not "stalk". Meeting the celebrities are via winning contests for meet and greet session. Also I am sort of an autography junkie. I even have an autograph of Ms Teresa Kok (Seputeh and Kinrara) and now in the Selangor Exco (I was a polling agent during the election....(insert proud moment)).

Not many people know of my "fetish" for contests and stuff but alot of current friends know me by my sporting activity, that is long distance running.

Maybe I'll have another blog on my running activity (and yes, its in the pipeline which God only knows how long the pipe runs).

Ok then, since this is my first writeup for my blog. I shall stop for a while to gather my thoughts to think of what to write next......
